Although as much as I love my gold jewelry in antique feel with a little bit tarnished effect, but I do wish to reverse my jewelry back to its shiny form. I came across this Pop Sugar site and found some tips there, thus I am so excited to try it out with my gold bracelet. (This bracelet was created just for me to experiment how good was the materials, thus I didn't put on any shield coat like my sold jewelry)
Note: Don't do this on your gold jewelry purchased from my store Shirleen Jeweliciouss because this will remove all the shield coating I had put on.
Before I share you the recipe, here is the before and after comparison:
Today is the last day of year 2014, this year has been more than awesome. I am so grateful that my handmade jewelry store has hit the milestone of one year anniversary. It has been a busy year with my job to take care, keeping my Crisp of Life's blog running and also coming up lotsa lotsa new jewelry designs.
This year, I have extended my beads hunt from local stores to outside the country. It was a fruitful findings and I cant wait to create more delicate jewelries with that to share with you all.
Thank you so much for your support and likes of my jewelry. Besides my passion, your support has been my motivation to design.
Now, let us flash back what Shirleen Jeweliciouss has came through in this year.
A simple logo is designed, with maroon and grey as the basic colors. Came out with the slogan: "Trust your Taste, accessorize your style."
First pop up store at Inti College while the second at Project Occupy Beach Street.
I took the chance to have my pop up stall on Project Occupy Beach Street to join the fun few months back. It is a weekly Sunday morning event happens from 7am till 1pm, where there is lotsa activities to join and stalls to shop. This is the second time I get to meet up my customers and have much closer approach instead of through the internet. It was so much fun that I wish to have more pop up stall event again in future. Hopefully my times allow.
Thanks to mystery man who spent his time to accompany me and took so much great street photos. Thus, this post is created to share the fun we had on that day. Enjoy~
Coming up some street photos mystery man has took.
The happening moments on beach street
See you again~
My little crafting studio has been fully set up and brought into used for almost 2 months now. Only now, I gained the time to share them with you all. I guess it wasn't too late right? The decoration was very minimalist as I love to keep my working station simple and clean.
Here is the zoom-out on the overview, combining my PC station with my crafting station, but I am going to focus on my crafting station here.
On the right side, I have requested the cabinet to be sectioned with glass divider, exuding the jewelry store display ambiance.
Next, I would be revealing what I have inside my drawers.
First drawer, I kept those frequently used items here: findings and craft wires.
Second drawe: cords, ribbons, chains and small beads.
Third, would be glues and packaging materials for shipping,.
The forth drawer which also the last, I kept big envelopes for bulk orders, and GDex, Ta-Q-Bin envelopes for Zalora's orders.
On the decoration side, I chose to have ocean and garden themes. I reused those sea shells I picked from beaches since I was small, decorated them along my table.
Hope you enjoy walking through my little working station~
Last month, I decided to try out mudah.my as they offer free advertising so I posted a few products there. Few days later I received emails from a guy enquiry on two pieces of my jewelries. I was excited because the posting at mudah.my is really works. However, I find it little weird because the content in both the email was like copy and paste. Okay, maybe he just lazy to type.
Then, I replied and then he tell me this story:
I was wowed, but why he wanted to buy one piece of male necklace and female necklace for his son? Then, I tell myself maybe it is for his wife. He even gave me all the details I needed for shipping.
Then, I went to quote the postage fees from post office. I still remember the girl sitting behind the counter even confirm with me: Nigeria ah? Then she checked the price for fastest deliver (because that Nigerian request that). Oh my! RM 188?! I even help him quoted registered post which cost around RM 26. Thought offering him cheaper option if he wasn’t in rush.
But then, he still stick to fastest delivery option. Seriously? I started to smell the fishiness.
Fine! Maybe convert them back into pound just cost him around 43 GBP.
Allied Irish Bank’s email the wired money was approved, just need my final step to send them the copy of the receipt of shipping reference. Wait! I wonder why the email address ended with @secureroot.com so I began to google. Another point is how come would manager do the wire?
Apparently, there are so many similar cases out there with the same story of a Nigerian father working in London as sailor and wanted to buy his son a gift. They usually target CPU and gadgets, so that seller shipped their stuff and end up didn't receive any payment. I was so surprised they have evolved their scam to non luxurious jewelry category.
You may read more stories about Nigerian SCAM in Mudah here & here..
I am so glad that I have pulled the break or else I would suffer the loss of RM 232.
Thanks for reading my sharing and please share around and be careful of the scam around.
Feel free to leave your comment sharing your experience with SCAM to let more people alert of it~
You must be curious how I come out the length I set for my necklace. Na! I am not some kind of genius. There is a guide chart I have always refer to and of course try it on myself to confirm.
This useful picture I got online has been very useful during my designing journey and I believe this could be useful as your online jewelry shopping guidance.
Chokers (14 inches-16 inches)
Chocker length of necklace falls perfectly around the base of your neck. Simple chocker necklace usually go well with any outfit and any jawline. A high neck top or strapless top could be the best match. However, everyone's necklace could be different in size and some choker necklace you bought at boutique might not fit everyone's neck. To customize your own choker necklace here, measure your neck length and add 2cm to it. It will fit you well.
Princess (16-18 inches)
This is the most common length of necklace, it falls beautifully just below the base of your throat and sit on your sexy collarbones. It usually fits you comfortably, including larger neck wearer. Princess necklace is perfect for crew and high neckline outfit, everyday outfit like button down blouse or even simple T-shirt.
Matinee (20-24 inches)
Matinee necklace falls gorgeously on the chest, blouse or dress. Definitely the right choice for casual or business outfit. This length giving the slimming accent by drawing the eye in a vertical line of the body. So as Opera necklace.
Opera (28-38 inches)
Opera necklace can be wore as a single long strand or wrapped around your neck twice as a double strand necklace. A perfect piece to accessorize your crew or high neckline outfit, blouse, dress or even turtleneck sweater.
Lariat or Rope (Over 45 inches)
This perfect length allows the necklace to be transformed into multi-strand necklace or bracelet (in fact for bracelet, all the necklace can be transformed into at least double-strand bracelet depending on your wrist size). To make it more dramatic and more fashion look, you may add an over-sized pendant, charm necklaces or any necklace around your neck.
So your face's shape suitable for which kind of necklace?
Typically can wear any length of necklace.
Choker length will soften and diminish the sharp angle of heart-faced chin.
Choker length will shorten the length of the jaw and thus smooths the angles on rectangular faces. Large beads at the base of the neck help shorten the look of the face too.
Longer necklaces such as Opera would elongate the jawline and create the V-shapes to compliment the face.. Try to avoid collar, choker and princess length as it will accentuate the roundness of the face.
Princess, matinee, opera and rope length necklace are ideal since they will create a vertical line to lengthen the face.
Here is my two cents on how to pick the right necklace length It may vary according to personal preference, outfit and necklace design.
Thanks for reading and I hope to hear your opinion too!
Why I use weebly this blogging plateform instead of the blogger or wordpress?
I have always been using blogger and very familiar with its convenient and clean structure. I love blogger. However, to display my jewelry in a clean product displaying form, Weebly offered me the easy pick and drop platform to have my jewelry displayed in box form. By clicking the pictures, it will switch to new tab displaying the details of my product.
With these pick and drop interface, I can control how my jewelry being displayed in my pages:
It allows me to have as many tabs as I like. Unlike blogger, I only can create tab by doing label filtering. Meaning to say, if I missed out labeling my bracelet, that bracelet won't appear on my Bracelet tab.
I have tried Wordpress and it is a beautiful blogging platefor, but it require money to enjoy more flexibility to customize my page. So in the end I pick Weebly.
You will take a little while to familiar with Weebly. It is more like half page half blog style of platform. Another reason why I love Weebly is it allows me to be different, to have my blogger shop present in different way.

A big HI to my Shirleen Jeweliciouss fans and fellow crafters, this wasn't my first post for this page but definitely the first post of my blog specially crafted for my handmade journey.
I started off this expensive hobby when I first emerge into the working life. There, I get to know my gorgeous colleague with the Asia Next Top Model figure and very talented in artsy, fashion and DIY stuff. She amazed me so much and brought me the influences of handmade jewelry. Sadly, she has stop selling and producing her handmade jewelry.
Do you know how does my first piece of handmade jewelry looks like?
(my friends would know because I shared it on my FB's album namely "Expensive Hobby")
Yup, I started off learning from online pictorial and my works was awful, you do notice the jump ring wasn't closed tight right? Blush~ This piece took me whole afternoon to complete. Although the tutorial does tell me how to make this piece, but when I try it with my own clumsy hand, it was difficult. I don't even know how to handle the pliers with jump rings.
However, the excitement looking at my end product was empowering and thus pushing my hobbies to continue with more materials bought in.
Here are some products of my early stage of designing. I was pretty afraid on playing with colors, unsure which charms should be matched. As I practice along then I mastered the skills, then I can design and execute them much efficiently. To be frank, when I looked back my pieces when I started this hobbies, I do feel embarrassed that my design was childish. Nonetheless, without going through that stage, I wouldn't have achieve what I have today.
In a nutshell, don't be afraid on trying, especially the stuff you like.
Here, I would love to thanks my family, friends, customers that supported me along this journey. Your supports and feedback meant alot to me.
