Last month, I decided to try out mudah.my as they offer free advertising so I posted a few products there. Few days later I received emails from a guy enquiry on two pieces of my jewelries. I was excited because the posting at mudah.my is really works. However, I find it little weird because the content in both the email was like copy and paste. Okay, maybe he just lazy to type. Then, I replied and then he tell me this story: I was wowed, but why he wanted to buy one piece of male necklace and female necklace for his son? Then, I tell myself maybe it is for his wife. He even gave me all the details I needed for shipping. Then, I went to quote the postage fees from post office. I still remember the girl sitting behind the counter even confirm with me: Nigeria ah? Then she checked the price for fastest deliver (because that Nigerian request that). Oh my! RM 188?! I even help him quoted registered post which cost around RM 26. Thought offering him cheaper option if he wasn’t in rush. But then, he still stick to fastest delivery option. Seriously? I started to smell the fishiness. Fine! Maybe convert them back into pound just cost him around 43 GBP. Allied Irish Bank’s email the wired money was approved, just need my final step to send them the copy of the receipt of shipping reference. Wait! I wonder why the email address ended with @secureroot.com so I began to google. Another point is how come would manager do the wire?
Apparently, there are so many similar cases out there with the same story of a Nigerian father working in London as sailor and wanted to buy his son a gift. They usually target CPU and gadgets, so that seller shipped their stuff and end up didn't receive any payment. I was so surprised they have evolved their scam to non luxurious jewelry category. You may read more stories about Nigerian SCAM in Mudah here & here.. I am so glad that I have pulled the break or else I would suffer the loss of RM 232. Thanks for reading my sharing and please share around and be careful of the scam around. Feel free to leave your comment sharing your experience with SCAM to let more people alert of it~
