Drum roll please!! For those who have been actively following Shirleen Jeweliciouss, you must have known that I just registered my business to SSM. Thanks to all my beloved friends and customers supporting me in the past 1.5 years. You all has been the motivation for me. At the beginning, I was just selling my handmade jewelry to keep some fund flowing in so that I can continue my passion in jewelry design With all of your support, I am getting serious on my jewelry business. From joining pop up booth, setting up my store at Marketplace at Zalora (there is more coming up which yet to reveal), I am grateful for the support of my loyal customers. I am gonna leaking an exciting new for you all. I am in the midst of preparing the rewards for my beloved customers and my future customers. Therefore, be patient on receiving your surprise. ;p Okay, now I am gonna share you my experience on how to register sole proprietorship business to Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia (SSM). This shall benefit for those interested to sign up, especially Penangite. First, I browse through SSM page to understand the criteria and what to prepare on registering. This is what you will need:
Around 9.30 in the morning, I made a trip from Penang Island to KWSP office at butterworth. Have my document checked at the counter. I found out my printed form cannot be two sided, I was intentionally go green by doing so. Thus, I ended up have to fill up the form provided by the officer again. Then, I got my number which was 30 numbers away from the current calling number. Now, it come to name registration. I need to explain what does my Jeweliciouss means. The word of Jeweliciouss was made up in the meaning of awesome jewelry. I have to translate it as "barang kemas yang mengagumkan", I almost laugh it out loud. At first they were hesitant on allowing me using a word that I have made up. Then, they ask me to add on the word "Trading" behind so I am okay with it as long as I get to keep my store's name. Surprisingly, they have been very efficient. Including the waiting, registration and fees paying, it took me about 40 mins to settle. The only disappointment was that one of the male officer handling my registration super cool. It is so contradict with the signage putting up at the counter telling that they are practicing smile for friendly customer service. Never mind, now I got my Certificate. Tada~ After that, I run back to Penang Island to have my namecard printing and rubber stamp done. Here is the design of my rubber stamp: After a nice chat with the printing's Tauke, I realize SSM have their mobile counter set up on certain days every month in Penang Island. This really ease the Penang Island business holder to renew or register their business without wasting the effort travel to mainland. I then emailed SSM requesting their schedule for this year, 2015. I got their reply few hours later and the officer is very friendly. Here is their schedule of the mobile SSM counter at Bayan Baru Market Complex: Hope my sharing benefits you. Stay tune for the updates after I get my namecard and rubber stamp.
